Observe automatic behaviour

The program is intended for adults who want to regain control over certain everyday uses: checking without intention, staying longer than planned or picking up the phone again as soon as it is put down. It does not present screens as an enemy. The aim is to recognise a trigger and create a short space in which another response becomes possible.

Change the environment and prepare a response

Souffle offers guided sessions, an express practice and concrete actions: move an application, make a notification less visible, place the phone out of reach or choose a replacement activity in advance. “If–then” plans make the response more precise: “if I pick up my phone in bed without a purpose, then I put it down and listen to three breaths”.

Tracking is used to observe trends without a moral score. A difficult day does not reset the whole journey. Information you enter remains locally on the device; Souffle cannot access system screen time, open applications, messages or browsing history.

A design choice, not a clinical promise

Prepared plans draw on implementation-intention research, including a meta-analysis of 94 studies. The twenty-one-day journey, script order and specific exercises are nevertheless Souffle design choices. The application has not been tested in a clinical trial and promises no particular reduction in screen time.

When support is preferable

If use feels out of control, causes major distress or puts relationships, study, work or finances at risk, a professional familiar with behavioural addictions is more appropriate. A psychological emergency or immediate risk requires a suitable support service, not a guided session.

Frequently asked questions

Does the application measure my screen time?

No. It requests no system access to this information. You record only what you choose to track.

Do I have to delete social media?

No. The program suggests adding friction and choosing certain screen-free moments without imposing a single rule.

Is using an app paradoxical?

The session has a clear beginning and end. Souffle has no feed, advertising or automatic notifications.
