About Souffle
Souffle is an independent guided self-hypnosis application designed to make regular practice simple, accessible and respectful of privacy.
Why this project exists
Souffle grew from a long-standing interest in self-hypnosis, habits and behavioural approaches. Its aim is practical: in a few minutes a day, offer a framework to prepare for change, find an anchor or move through a difficult moment with greater perspective.
The application was designed to remain easy to try and use: no account, no advertising and no central database holding your plans, notes or progress. This lets you focus on the practice rather than the tool.
Independence
Souffle is developed without advertising, sponsored content or a business model based on collecting personal data. Design choices answer first to the experience being offered.
A documented approach
The programs translate mechanisms from scientific and behavioural literature into short, practical exercises. The main references are published on the site.
Privacy
Your programs, plans, notes and progress stay on your device. You can back them up or delete them whenever you wish.
A clear approach
Explained choices
Important mechanisms, sources and design choices are presented publicly. The aim is to let everyone understand what the experience is based on.
Content designed to evolve
Programs improve through feedback, evolving knowledge and, progressively, professional review. Any external validation will be credited with its precise scope.
Explicit limitations
Souffle distinguishes what is well documented, what remains debated and what the application cannot claim. This transparency is part of the product.
What Souffle aims to make possible
Souffle provides a space to decide in advance, rehearse a useful response and return regularly to what you want to change. Programs use “if–then” plans, simple commitments, guided sessions and short exercises for moments when cravings, stress or distraction take up more room.
These practices can support a personal process and complement professional support. They do not require you to wait until you are perfectly motivated: the idea is instead to make the next action clearer and more accessible.
Project limitations
Souffle is a wellbeing tool, not a medical device, and its programs have not been assessed as complete clinical treatments. It promises neither guaranteed results nor a miracle method. When a difficulty becomes intense, persistent or overwhelming, a healthcare or support professional remains the best person to contact.
For smoking cessation in particular, Souffle can support preparation and moments of craving. Behavioural approaches and, where indicated, validated aids discussed with a healthcare professional remain the best-established options.
